The latest entrant to the compact smartphone race appears to be the Chinese smartphone brand Honor. A recent report suggests that the brand is prepping a "mini" model for the upcoming "Magic8" portfolio of smartphones.
Tipster Digital Chat Station (DCS) has made a Weibo post claiming that the Honor Magic8 Mini is on its way as the first compact smartphone from the brand. The device will reportedly bear a 6.3-inch display and will likely draw its power from the yet-to-be-launched MediaTek Dimensity 9500 mobile processor. This means that the Magic8 Mini will follow the "compact flagship" mantra similar to the recently launched Vivo X200 FE and the OnePlus 13s.

Additionally, the leak claims that the current engineering model of the smartphone is also "thin and lightweight" apart from being handy. Although the tipster has not mentioned the exact dimensions of the smartphone, we believe that Honor will take on the likes of the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge and the upcoming Apple iPhone 17 Air in terms of the Magic8 Mini's sleek profile.
The good news however is that DCS believes that unlike Samsung's and Apple's counterparts, the Magic8 Mini will still pack a sizeable battery capacity thanks to the silicon carbon tech. The exact "mAh" value is still under wraps.
Apart from this, since this is the first time the Honor Magic8 Mini has surfaced online, the details around the smartphone are still scarce. We can expect more details to surface as the smartphone nears its launch window.
Witht that being said, early reports believe that the smartphone will go official at the start of 2026. It will reportedly launch under Honor's "Magic" umbrella of smartphones and will tag alongside the base Honor Magic8, the Magic8 Pro and a new Magic8 Ultra.
