Huawei has just added another flagship smartphone to its portfolio, and this time its the Mate 80 Pro Max Wind Edition. It's a special edition of the existing Mate 80 Pro Max which integrates an active cooling fan directly into the chassis to help the phone deliver better sustained peak performance.
Huawei Mate 80 Pro Max Wind Edition Specifications
Under the hood, the Mate 80 Pro Max Wind Edition is exactly the same as the standard Mate 80 Pro Max launched in China. The difference is that it comes with a large bionic wing turbine fan built into the circular rear camera module. Huawei claims it has added over 1,200 laser-engraved ventilation holes and thermal fins to let heat out efficiently.

Like with any smartphone with an active cooling fan, the dynamic fan spins up at full speed during heavy workloads and intense gaming sessions and slows down during lighter tasks. It helps the built-in Kirin 9030 Pro processor to dispel heat faster, helping the smartphone perform better under sustained heavy loads.
However, to make room for the cooling system, Huawei has omitted one of the four cameras in the Mate 80 Pro Max Wind Edition. The array now includes a 50 MP primary snapper, 40 MP ultrawide and a 50 MP telephoto lens. The 50 MP 6.2x periscope telephoto camera has been removed.

Powering the phone is HarmonyOS 6.0 and up to 16 GB of RAM. Huawei has packed in a feature called "HyperSpace Memory", which adds 4 GB of additional swap memory from the internal storage, increasing the total RAM to 20 GB.
The smartphone is fueled by a 6,000mAh battery that can charge at 100W wired and 80W wirelessly. Up front, the phone boasts the same 6.9-inch FHD+ LTPO OLED display capable of 8,000 nits of peak brightness. The phone also sports an IP68/69 rating and a metal body.
