Summary

  • iOS 27.3 expands Siri AI with new voice-based actions across Apple apps, including Messages, Music, Photos, Safari and Calendar.
  • Apple is opening Siri AI to third-party developers through App Intents and a new App Skills feature.
  • Developers can combine multiple app actions into single Siri commands, with the first user-facing integrations expected in the coming months.

Apple is expanding Siri AI's capabilities with the latest iOS 27.3 developer beta. The update opens up the revamped assistant to third-party developers, allowing them to integrate Siri AI's capabilities into their apps.

iOS 27.3 Brings New Siri AI Features Across Apple Apps

With the iOS 27.3 developer beta update, Siri AI gets new capabilities across several Apple apps, including Calendar, Files, Mail, Maps, Messages, Music, Notes, Photos, Safari and Reminders.

For instance, users can ask Siri to create and save playlists in Apple Music, schedule or edit iMessages, and react to conversations using emoji.

The assistant can also create formatted Notes, organise files and folders, and edit or favourite pictures in Photos.

Calendar integration now supports creating events with invitees, locations and video-call links.

In Safari, users can organise tabs, create tab groups, clear browsing history and save articles to their Reading List.

Siri can also use personal context to deliver more relevant results. For example, users can ask it to find a coffee shop they visited last week and the assistant uses location history to identify the place.

Apple Opens Siri AI to Third-Party Developers

Another major addition is Apple's decision to open Siri AI's newer capabilities to third-party developers through App Intents.

Apple is introducing a new feature called App Skills, which lets developers combine multiple app actions into a single Siri command. This means users can complete more complex tasks without having to issue separate instructions.

Developers can also integrate personal context understanding and on-screen awareness into their apps. Additionally, users can ask Siri what it can do within a supported application to discover available actions.

Apple says developers can start experimenting with these integrations through the iOS 27.3, iPadOS 27.3, macOS 27.3 and visionOS 27.3 betas.

The first user-centric experiences are expected to arrive in a few months, while App Store submissions for these integrations are expected to open in spring.

With these additions, Apple is taking another step towards making Siri a more capable AI assistant, allowing it to handle everyday tasks across both its own apps and third-party services.
