Lava launched the first Storm 5G smartphone in December 2023. Today, Lava has confirmed that the Storm series will be expanded to include two new phones, namely the Storm Play and Storm Lite. The company has confirmed the launch date for its upcoming affordable handsets.
A dedicated Amazon microsite went live this morning, confirming that the Lava Storm Play and Storm Lite will be launched on June 13, 2025, at 12:00 AM in India. However, the time could be incorrect, as 12:00 AM would be too late at night for a smartphone launch event. Or, it's possible that Lava plans to simply make the two phones available to buy at midnight.
The Amazon landing page also reveals the back design of the two smartphones. The Storm Play's blue back panel has a metallic silver strip running across the top half. One camera sits above the strip, while the second camera and LED flash sit inside. Lava says the Storm Play will be the world's first MediaTek Dimensity 7060-powered smartphone.
Lava Storm Lite, on the other hand, features a traditional-looking square camera island on the top left; nothing fancy. The colour in the poster (see below) is Champagne Gold. Moreover, the listing mentions that the Storm Lite is claimed to be India's first MediaTek Dimensity 6400-powered smartphone.

While Lava didn't explicitly mention the pricing of the two devices, the source attribution at the corner of the Storm Lite poster suggests the Storm Lite will be priced under Rs 8,000. The Storm Play, on the other hand, is expected to be priced under Rs 12,000.
As for the specifications, the Lava Storm Play will feature UFS 3.1 storage and LPDDR5 RAM, which is a rarity in the budget segment. Even some Rs 25,000 phones these days come with UFS 2.2 storage in the name of cost-cutting. The Storm Lite could come with an HD+ IPS display with high refresh rate, 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage in the base variant.
What are your thoughts on the upcoming Lava Storm series? Do you think Lava or Madhav Sheth's AI+ will become popular in the sub-Rs 10,000 price segment?
