Moto g96 5G Launched for Under Rs 20,000 in India

After a flurry of teasers, the Moto g96 5G has gone official in India on July 9, 2025. It features a 144Hz pOLED display, a 5,500mAh battery and is powered by the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 mobile platform. Here is a detailed breakdown of the specifications, pricing and availability of the Moto g96 5G.

Moto g96 5G Specifications and Features

Starting off with the display, Motorola has equipped the g96 5G with a 6.67-inch Full HD+ 144 Hz 10-bit curved pOLED panel with up to 100% DCI-P3 coverage and up to 1,600 nits of peak brightness. It also offers a 300 Hz Touch Sampling Rate and is protected by Corning's Gorilla Glass 5.

The display is encased within a 7.93mm plastic mid-frame and is complemented by a vegan leather back panel. It is also home to the "Motorola" logo in the centre and a top-left aligned dual rear camera setup. The device is also lightweight at 178 grams.

Speaking of cameras, the dual camera setup features a 50 MP Sony LYT-600C main sensor with OIS alongside the 8 MP 118.6° ultra-wide lens. There is also a 32 MP front-facing selfie camera with an f/2.2 aperture. 

In terms of video recording capabilities, the rear camera setup can shoot 1080p at 60 FPS videos as well as 720p at 240 FPS slo-mo recordings. The selfie camera, however, is capped at 1080p at 30 FPS.

Under the hood, the g96 5G is powered by the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 SoC and can be paired with 8 GB of LPDDR4x RAM and up to 256 GB of UFS 2.2 storage. While the device supports 24 GB of virtual RAM expansion, there is no way to expand the storage.

Talking about the battery and charging details, the Moto g96 5G is equipped with a 5,500mAh cell and can support up to 33W of fast wired charging. The charger is bundled in the box.

On the software front, the device runs on Hello UI based on Android 15. It comes with useful Moto actions like chop chop for flash, Thinkshield security and privacy features and more. Motorola is promising a single software upgrade with two years of security updates.

In terms of connectivity, there is support for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.2, dual 5G SIM and GPS. Additionally, the Moto g96 5G comes equipped with 13 5G bands.

Apart from this, the device is IP68-rated and comes with an in-display fingerprint scanner and stereo speakers.

Moto g96 5G Price in India and Sale Date

Motorola has set the retail price of the g96 5G at Rs 17,999 for the 8 GB + 128 GB variant. Meanwhile, the 8 GB + 256 GB variant will be sold in India for Rs 19,999.

Both variants of the smartphone will be available to purchase via Flipkart and the official Motorola India website from July 16, 2025, at 12:00 PM IST. Interested buyers can opt from Pantone Greener Pastures, Pantone Ashleigh Blue, Pantone Cattleya Orchid and Pantone Dresden Blue colour options.
