Just back in September 2025, Apple launched its slimmest iPhone ever with the iPhone Air. Now, talks of its next iteration, the iPhone Air 2 or iPhone Air 2026, have already surfaced online and it looks like we're in for a big camera upgrade.
iPhone Air 2 will pack dual 48 MP rear cameras
According to reliable tipster, Digital Chat Station, the second generation of the iPhone Air will feature a 48 MP primary rear camera lens alongside a 48 MP ultra-wide shooter. The successor will reportedly retain the signature thin and lightweight design of the iPhone Air.

Additionally, the next iPhone Air is also said to be using a horizontal camera layout instead of adapting to a vertical stack as seen on regular iPhones. Apple is expected to unveil the iPhone Air 2 in late 2026, alongside the iPhone 18 lineup. Moreover, the first foldable iPhone is also expected to launch with these phones next year, so it's certainly expected to be an iconic event.
Apple is also reportedly working towards introducing a third iPhone Air with a bigger display in 2027. So, contrary to popular belief, it doesn't seem like Apple will be giving up on its Air anytime soon.
While the first iPhone Air was praised for its design, the single camera system, single speaker and a couple of other things were seen as quite the compromise. Looks like Apple is working towards perfecting this very design to accommodate more in the thin form factor, making the Air hopefully worth it.
