Nothing's next mid-range refresh, the Phone (4a) and Phone (4a) Pro are coming in 2026. While nothing is known about them at the moment, Nothing has confirmed the series is happening. Now, in a new YouTube video, the brand's founder and CEO, Carl Pei, has revealed what fans can expect from the upcoming smartphones.
Nothing plans a complete evolution with Phone (4a) lineup
The brand's official YouTube channel posted a candid interaction between Carl Pei and Rob, Nothing's creative head, discussing the future of Nothing phones in 2026. While both of them touched down on a lot of topics, the main highlight was the Phone (4a). Pei has confirmed the upcoming lineup will be a complete evolution over its predecessor, with a close to flagship-level experience.
To achieve this, Pei has confirmed complete material and CMF refresh for the upcoming phones. He said that areas like the design, display, camera and performance will be upgraded over the Nothing Phone (3a) and Phone (3a) Pro.

He further added that Nothing is even planning to experiment with new colours and a mature design language. Obviously, the brand will not shift away from its transparent aesthetics. In fact, it has firmly established itself in the market as a brand that makes its smartphones stand out. Even if no two phones look alike, it is immediately discernible as a Nothing smartphone.
All in all, it is clear that with rising smartphone prices Nothing is making sure the hardware and experience live up to the added cost. Pei already made it clear previously that Nothing phones will be expensive in 2026.

In the same post, he hinted at UFS 3.1 storage upgrade for the Phone (4a) series. Now with the new video, this becomes all but confirmed. We can expect the same upgrades to apply in other areas as well. For instance, instead of the Phone (3a)'s plastic frame, Phone (4a) might opt for a metal mid-frame.
A previous Nothing Phone (4a) spec leak report hinted at a Snapdragon 7 series processor for the lineup. We believe it could be the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chipset since the Phone (3a) lineup got the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 treatment. It also hinted at a new Pink colourway for the phones.
That said, there is no doubt that Nothing is serious about its "a' series. With no flagship coming this year, the brand has a huge opportunity to craft the perfect flagship killer devices, which manage to infuse design, CMF and hardware in a meaningful and competitive way.
