The OnePlus 16 is shaping up to be quite the gaming beast, with the company already confirming support for native 185 FPS gaming. Now, the brand has revealed the upgraded cooling system of the OnePlus 16, which is designed to keep those high frame rates running smoothly.
OnePlus 16 Will Feature an Upgraded Glacier Cooling System
According to a poster shared by the official OnePlus Weibo account, the OnePlus 16 will come with an all-new Glacier Cooling System. The poster's tagline roughly translates to "stay cool, keep full frame rates, and climb the ranks", which makes it clear that this is built with gamers in mind.
OnePlus says that the new cooling system can deliver 40% better vapour chamber performance and 50% better thermal Glacier gel performance than the OnePlus 15. There's also an advanced Glacier graphite with a thermal conductivity of 2,100 W/m.K.
The poster also shows an exploded view of the phone, with several layers of cooling material stacked around the chip, including graphite sheets, a copper-coloured layer, and the vapour chamber. According to the fine print, the outlined performance gains and improvements are compared to the OnePlus 15.
Aside from that, OnePlus has also mentioned new chip heat dissipation technology, stronger cooling materials, and a larger heat dissipation area. However, the company hasn't shared the exact vapour chamber size yet.

For those unaware, the OnePlus 15 already uses a Glacier cooling system with a steel vapour chamber and aerogel insulation. However, the upgrades on the OnePlus 16 are primarily due to the fact that the phone has a 185 Hz display and supports native 185 FPS in games.
Moreover, the smartphone will run on the powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 chipset. Hence, a cooling system is necessary to keep the flagship chip running at peak performance while also allowing the phone to deliver 185 FPS without any frame drops.
That said, OnePlus 16 will launch in China on October 12, 2026, at 17:00 CST (or 4:30 PM IST) and will come in Tomorrow Starlight, Dark Forest and Martian Masterpiece colour options and four RAM and storage options: 12 GB + 256 GB, 12 GB + 512 GB, 16 GB + 512 GB and 16 GB + 1 TB.
