After initial rumours, we have our first slightly convincing piece of information that OnePlus is indeed developing its first gaming smartphone. A new phone, rumoured to be the OnePlus Turbo, has been tipped and is said to prioritise raw power and battery over other features.
OnePlus Turbo could be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5
The information arrives from an industry insider who told Smartprix that OnePlus is working on a smartphone codenamed "Macan", which is expected to be the OnePlus Turbo.

The information further reveals that the phone could be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset, which Qualcomm announced during the Snapdragon Summit 2025, but hasn't launched it yet.
According to the source, OnePlus is prioritising performance over everything with the OnePlus Turbo, as the device is expected to feature a "Glacier cooling system". The display is rumoured to be a 6.7-inch OLED unit with 1.5K resolution and 165Hz refresh rate.

Powering the internals could be the biggest battery on a OnePlus smartphone yet, an 8,000mAh Silicon Carbon cell, which may charge at 100W. Considering the device's focus on performance, the device may miss out on wireless charging.
However, to accommodate this focus on performance and battery, the camera system appears to be modest. The leak points to a dual-camera setup with a 50 MP primary sensor and an 8 MP ultrawide lens.
Some of the other gaming-centric hardware features could include an X-axis linear motor for great haptics, stereo speakers and an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner. Considering the "Turbo" moniker, it won't be surprising if the device features an active cooling fan, just like the Oppo K13 Turbo Pro.

The OnePlus Turbo is reportedly already in the active testing phase in the subcontinent. Considering everything goes well, the device could see an official launch within the next two months. However, for now, OnePlus is all set to launch the OnePlus 15 in November 2025. Stay tuned as we will cover more about the OnePlus Turbo as further information surfaces.
