2026 has been off to a rocky start with electronic components like smartphones, storage and RAM getting incredibly expensive. In the past three months, brands like Realme, Samsung, Vivo, Oppo and more have either hiked prices of existing phones or have launched new smartphones at higher MRPs. Now, both Oppo and OnePlus have jointly confirmed more price hikes across product lineups.
Oppo and OnePlus Phones Are Getting More Expensive
Tech publication Android Headlines managed to get hold of an internal price bump memo that Oppo has circulated via the company’s online store. According to that, due to the rising cost of several key smartphone components, Oppo phones and OnePlus phones are set to receive price hikes from March 16, 2026.

As part of this price adjustment, already launched Oppo A and K series phones as well as OnePlus smartphones will see an increase in their regular MRP starting next week. Only Oppo Find series, Reno series and Oppo Pad series will be exempted from price hikes.
This is interesting, as several Oppo A and Reno series phones in India saw price hikes just last week. The Oppo Reno 15C went up from Rs 34,999 to Rs 39,999, with a Rs 3,000 price hike. It is unclear how the Reno series is exempt when Reno phones in India are also getting more expensive.

Moreover, the document doesn't provide any clarity regarding which OnePlus phones are getting expensive. Currently, we believe every OnePlus product, including smartphones and tablets will be affected, since the OnePlus 15R price hike in India is also impending.
That said, with price hikes becoming the new normal, there remains no respite for consumers like you and me. A recent International Data Corporation (IDC) report has even said that the current RAM crisis could go on for as long as 2030. So, as the market adjusts to expensive components and affordability shrinks further, we are either left with no choice or a longer hold period for consumers.
