OnePlus has begun deploying a new firmware update to its sub-flagship OnePlus 13R and OnePlus 15R smartphones. The update brings new animations and fixes a lot of quirks and complaints that users had in previous versions, while also updating to the latest security definitions.
OnePlus 13R, 15R Getting OxygenOS 16.1
In what could be the final major OxygenOS update, OxygenOS 16.1 is now available for the OnePlus 13R and OnePlus 15R. The smartphones are now getting new builds CPH2691_16.0.9.402 and CPH2767_16.0.9.401, respectively, with the same baseline improvements.

Starting with the visual tweaks, the firmware introduces brand-new fingerprint icons alongside new animations. Besides, OnePlus has also worked on improving the overall UI experience, making transition animations more fluid when closing items or navigating.
OnePlus is also rolling out a new Backup Face Unlock feature that adds native support for PC lock removal functionalities. Besides, the update also brings the latest July 2026 Android security patch level.
That said, there are a few differences between the OnePlus 13R and 15R builds. One of them is that the 13R misses out on a few gaming features, such as a Game Equaliser and Sound Boost technology.
Eligible OnePlus R-series phone owners can now head over to Settings > System & update > Software update to download and install the update. Since OnePlus is discontinuing OxygenOS for ColorOS, the next major update on the OnePlus 12R, 13R, 15R and other OnePlus phones is expected to be ColorOS 17 based on Android 17.
