Redmi's annual 'K' series contender, the K90 Pro is expected to launch soon in China. We can expect the Xiaomi-owned sub-brand to launch the base K90 and the flagship-level K90 Pro. Ahead of that, a new revelation has outed some of the key upgrades that are coming to the Redmi K90 Pro in 2025.
Leaker DCS (Digital Chat Station) took to Weibo to share some of the key upgrades of the Pro. For starters, the K90 Pro is expected to house a periscope telephoto lens. To recall, last year's K80 Pro came with a 50 MP floating telephoto sensor. Hence, the K90 Pro will become the first 'K' series smartphone to feature a periscope telephoto camera.
This means that the K90 Pro will be able to offer better optical zoom range, which is a major limitation of a floating telephoto sensor. However, in terms of macro photography and versatility, a floating telephoto sensor has proven to have an edge over a periscope lens. So, it will be interesting to see the imaging capabilities of the K90 Pro.

Furthermore, the K90 Pro could also be one of the first few smartphones to be powered by the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 SoC. Additionally, it will also likely feature an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner, a metal mid-frame, dual stereo speakers, a new, larger X-axis vibration motor and wireless charging support.
A while back, DCS also mentioned that the K90 Pro will feature a 50 MP OmniVision OV50Q periscope sensor with a 1/1.3-inch sensor size. Meanwhile, the device will also reportedly feature a 6.59-inch 120Hz 2K LTPS OLED panel at the front.
With that being said, this is just a leak. So, take this information with a grain of salt. However, we do expect Redmi to start teasing key specifications of the K90 Pro in the coming days. So, stay tuned.
