Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite is among the fastest mobile processors in the world, and it's almost time for its next iteration. We know that it will be called Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2, but a recent rumour may have also revealed its staggeringly fast performance numbers. Here's what you need to know.
While it is expected to bring performance improvements, tipster Digital Chat Station on Weibo has revealed that the SoC scores over 4,000 points in single-core and 11,000 points in multi-core on GeekBench 6. That's around a 1,000-point difference across both single and multi-core scores when compared to last year's Snapdragon 8 Elite.

The tipster also suggests that the performance numbers of the Adreno 840 GPU are “very high”, and while that doesn't say anything, previous rumours have pointed out that it could be 40% faster.
The 8 Elite Gen 2 will feature Qualcomm's second-generation Oryon cores with a 2+6 setup. The prime cores are expected to have higher clock speeds of up to 5.00 GHz. It's reportedly built on TSMC's third-generation 3nm manufacturing process.
As for the phones, you can expect to see the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 powering the Samsung Galaxy S26 series, Xiaomi 16 series, and OnePlus 15. Regardless, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2 will be the last top-of-the-line Qualcomm flagship processor based on the 3nm process. Reports of Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 3 have already popped up, suggesting it's based on a 2nm process and will be very expensive.
With Apple closing in with its A19 Pro processor in the iPhone 17 Pro series, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2 should reignite the SoC wars once more. Although it's too soon to say who will reign as the champion. The Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 is expected to be revealed this year at the Snapdragon Summit which is set to kick off on September 23, 2025.
