When it comes to budget smartphones, Redmi has made a name for itself in India by consistently launching value for money phones. However, for the longest time, fans have been asking the brand to bring their mid-range and flagship phones to India as well and it seems like Redmi has finally listened, as the next phone could very well be a first in India.

The official Redmi India X account has posted multiple teasers built around the theme of fast and performance. It includes taglines like “Blink and you’ll miss it” and “Speed is no longer a feature, it’s the soul of what’s next.” A landing page for the new Redmi phone is also now live on their website.

Now, it is clear that with the upcoming launch Redmi wants to redefine its image and transition from a budget phone maker to a more premium brand. At the time of writing, we do not exactly get to know which phone the brand is bringing to India, but based on the current speculation, it strongly hints at the Redmi Turbo 5.

If true, this will make sense since the phone launched in China for 1,999 Chinese Yuan (approximately Rs 26,000) and featured some flagship-killer specs like the Dimensity 8500 Ultra processor (overclocked version of the Dimensity 8500 chipset) and a large 7,560mAh battery. Even if the phone manages to launch for under Rs 40,000, it will be a solid all-rounder package and could go head-to-head with the likes of the Poco X8 Pro and the OnePlus Nord 6.

Even if the phone manages to launch for under Rs 40,000, it will be a solid all-rounder package and could go head-to-head with the likes of the Poco X8 Pro and the OnePlus Nord 6.It comes with a 6.59-inch flat 1.5K 120 Hz OLED display,  LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.1 storage, 100W fast USB-C charging and a 50 MP main camera.

That said, this is purely speculative and should be taken with a pinch of salt. Since the official teasers have begun, it is only a matter of time before the new Redmi phone is officially name dropped. So, stay tuned.
