Reliance Jio has just made a big AI announcement. At Reliance Industries' 49th Annual General Meeting (AGM), Jio Chairman Akash Ambani unveiled the Jio Call Agent. It's a native AI assistant that runs inside the Jio network and jumps into your phone calls whenever you want. Reliance Jio wants to integrate AI into services Indians already use every day instead of pushing users to open a separate AI app.
"Hey Jio" Pulls an AI Agent Into the Call Itself
Jio says it handles 20 billion voice minutes per day and yet the phone call has remained untouched by AI. So instead of another app, you just say "Hey Jio" during a call and the assistant joins once other participants give their consent. It runs at the network level on any phone and requires no download.

The Jio Call Agent transcribes the call in real time and can identify up to 10 speakers on a conference call. It can even transcribe the call in their own language. After the call, it shares summaries, action points, reminders, etc. with everyone.
Apart from that, It can take action during call like ordering food, booking a cab, reserving a table or setting up a meeting without you leaving the call. The Jio Call Agent supports multiple Indian languages and can reach more than Jio's 524 million users later this year. Note that pricing has not been announced yet.
As for privacy, Jio says the Call Agent only joins with user consent and needs explicit confirmation for any payment.
MyJio Becomes an AI Advisor

Jio is also rebuilding the MyJio app, which is already used by over 600 million people and making it a personalised AI advisor. Instead of digging through menus, you can now tell the AI app what you want. For queries like moving cities, sorting an international roaming pack or doing self-KYC on a new eSIM phone, the AI handles all the requests for you.
JioTeleFrame and the AI Backbone Behind It
Jio also announced JioTeleFrame, which is designed as a voice-first platform for AI agents. It acts as a hub for multiple AI agents across a family's routines and smart appliances. JioTeleFrame is the face of Jio's Reliance Intelligence suite, which include JioBharatIQ, JioHealthIQ, JioLearnIQ and more.
All of these services work across 22 Indian languages and are powered by a sovereign AI data centre in Jamnagar. These services will go live in phases from late 2026.
What is Powering Jio's AI?
So whose AI is actually running behind all of this? Akash Ambani said Reliance's partnership with Google has grown into a "truly AI-first collaboration". The Google AI Pro plan which bundles Gemini is already free for eligible Jio users.
The second venture is with Meta, which brings the Llama open-source models to Indian businesses while Nvidia supplies the GB300 chips behind the whole stack. The only homegrown part is the Jamnagar data centre and support for 22 Indian languages.
