In a massive push, the Reliance-owned Jio and Google have joined hands to offer 18 months of free Google AI Pro subscription. The package, which costs Rs 35,100 per user, can now be redeemed at no extra cost. Here are more details about the same and how you can redeem the offer if you are an existing Jio user.
Google and Jio partner to challenge Airtel-Perplexity collaboration
A few months after Airtel partnered with Perplexity, Jio has entered a collaboration with Google to give users a free Google AI Pro subscription. The offer includes access to Gemini's latest 2.5 Pro model, increased storage and more.
Here's a list of all the things you get after redeeming the offer:
- Gemini 2.5 Pro
- 2 TB of storage shared across services
- Veo 3.1 video generation model
- NotebookLM
- AI integration in Google Workspace
- Gemini Nano Banana to edit or generate images
Besides, users also get access to things like Flow to help them create movies, Whisk, Jules, Gemini CLI and Code Assist and more features that could be added in the future.
The partnership extends beyond consumers, though. Reliance is also partnering with Google Cloud to expand access to advanced AI hardware accelerators in India. This could enable organisations to train and deploy LLMs, and Reliance will become a key partner for distributing Gemini Enterprise to businesses.
The move also comes as a response to OpenAI's recent move to give ChatGPT Go for free in India starting November 4, 2025. With Google jumping early on the train, it should woo users into trying Gemini's Pro models first, and probably stick to them before they even try out ChatGPT Go.
How to redeem Gemini AI Pro as a Jio user
The process of redeeming is quite simple. It works regardless of whether you've previously used Gemini AI Pro before or not. If you're an existing Google One user, your current plan will be replaced with Gemini AI Pro (non-refundable). Before we begin, there are a few things that you need to keep in mind:
- Google AI Pro is currently only available for Jio users aged 18-25.
- Users need to be on an unlimited 5G plan, and if they're not, they should purchase one to redeem the offer.
- Users need to maintain an active 5G plan for the entire duration of the offer to retain access to Gemini.
- The offer will soon extend to all Jio users, although the timeline for that is still unknown.
With that out of the way, here's how Jio users can get the Gemini AI Pro plan for free:
- Head over to the My Jio app or install it from the Play Store if you haven't already, and log in with your Jio number.
- Tap on the Gemini AI Pro banner on the top, and then hit Claim now.
- You will be asked to sign in to your Google account.
- If you're already signed in, tap on Redeem to get the subscription.
- In case you're already a One subscriber, tap on Switch plan, and your existing plan will be replaced.
- You should then receive a confirmation that you are now a Google AI Pro member.
And that's how you can redeem the 18-month Gemini AI Pro plan perk for free on your Jio number. This is not the first time Google has tried to be generous with the AI Pro plan.
