Reliance Jio has expanded its app portfolio with JioShield. It's a new security solution designed to help users ensure their children or elderly relatives are safe. JioShield connects to the JioThings app for seamless tracking.
Priced at a one-time yearly fee of Rs 1,000, the service relies on a dual-app setup. Guardians operate the primary JioThings app, which links directly to the JioShield companion app installed on the dependent's smartphone.
Once the connection is established, parents can track their children's real-time location, receive SOS signals and get alerts when their devices are about to die. Additionally, JioShield also presents parental controls, including the ability to restrict daily screen time and what apps their children can access,
To activate the service, both the parent and the child must be registered with active Jio mobile numbers. The monitored device currently requires Android 10 or newer, while the JioThings app is scheduled to arrive on iOS starting October 1, 2026.

To market for wider adoption, Jio is making it a part of its 10th anniversary campaign that went live on September 26, 2026. As part of this, users who pay Rs 1,000 will receive ten Rs 100 recharge vouchers, meaning the final effective price of JioShield would be zero.
These coupons can be redeemed on 5G plans starting at Rs 399. Besides, Jio is also offering a 28-day unlimited 5G data boost, alongside its recently announced complimentary 12-month Canva Pro subscription on eligible 5G plans.
All of Jio's 10th anniversary offers can now be availed via the My Jio app, where users can find their banners right below their recharge plan information.
