Summary

  • Samsung has confirmed it will be replacing the screens for green line-affected Galaxy S23 series phones for free.
  • To be eligible, the device should not have any physical damage and purchased within three years of the invoice date.
  • The policy is applicable till September 25, 2025 and will be extended till December 31, 2025.

Amidst the rising green line issues on Samsung Galaxy devices, more prominent on the Galaxy S23 series, Samsung has confirmed that the affected devices are eligible for a free screen replacement.

According to screenshots shared by X user Tarun Vats, Samsung Support confirmed that the Galaxy S23 series is eligible for a free screen replacement in case of green line issues.

Furthermore, the policy only applies to devices purchased within three years of the invoice date. Since the Galaxy S23 series launched in 2023, all units should currently fall under this period. Adding to that, the policy only applies to devices that are free from any kind of physical damage.

Lastly, the agent confirmed that the last date to get a free screen replacement is December 31, 2025. Users who are affected can visit their nearest service centre and ask for a screen replacement. Considering their devices satisfy all the checks, they will be granted a free screen replacement.

It's worth noting that users will likely need to carry the device's purchase invoice when they walk in. Devices bought from other countries might not be eligible for a free screen replacement.

Display green line issues aren't limited to the S23 series. We've seen quite a few Galaxy S24 and S22 users complain about the same. While we're not sure if Samsung will extend its policy to those devices, Tarun states that the S24 users may be eligible in the future.

The infamous green line issue is usually caused after an update, after the device restarts. While no manufacturer has explained the reason for it, it's believed to be due to the heat generated when the device updates, which wears down the display connector on smartphones.

The issue has been more prominent in OnePlus smartphones, due to which OnePlus now promises a lifetime free display replacement policy for its devices. We shall update this article if Samsung extends this free replacement policy to more devices. Until then, stay tuned.
