Samsung could be preparing one of its biggest assistant upgrades to date, as a new leak suggests that Bixby will gain built-in Perplexity AI capabilities with the Galaxy S26 series. This will be very similar to how ChatGPT and Apple Intelligence work in tandem on iPhones, from the sound of it.
Galaxy S26 series to get Perplexity-powered Bixby
The information comes from an X post by tipster @chunvn8888, who claims that Samsung is working on an enhanced hybrid assistant model for its upcoming flagship lineup. According to the leak, Bixby will continue to handle basic, device-level tasks, while the more complex and reasoning-heavy queries will be processed by Perplexity AI. The tipster adds that the setup will function similarly to how Apple Intelligence offloads advanced tasks to ChatGPT.

In addition, the upgraded Bixby assistant is reportedly planned to debut at Samsung's Galaxy Unpacked event in 2026, making it one of the headline AI changes for the next-generation Galaxy lineup. With talks of the Galaxy S26 launch date delayed by a bit, one could expect to see the upgraded assistant debut in February 2026.
The Perplexity integration could really take Bixby to the next level and let Samsung users finally have a more capable conversational assistant with richer responses, better long-form query handling and better contextual understanding.
With AI becoming the core for smartphone makers, Samsung's move toward a dual-agent assistant only makes sense.
