Samsung's tracker has finally learned to play nice with the competition. The Galaxy SmartTag3 is here with iPhone support for the first time, a smaller body and a battery rated to last up to 550 days.

Samsung has shrunk the tracker considerably. The Galaxy SmartTag 3 is about 35% smaller by volume and 33% lighter than the SmartTag 2, which makes it easier to clip onto keys, small bags, luggage or a pet collar.
It has a rounded shape with an aluminium-decorated button and Samsung is selling new Silicone Case (with a keyring) and Loop Case accessories separately to help you attach it to more things.
The headline change is cross-platform support. For the first time, the SmartTag works with iOS devices as well as Samsung Galaxy phones, so you can check and share a tag's location and use Search Nearby through the SmartThings Find app.
There are some limits, though. Compass View, Ring Phone and Left Behind Alert aren't available on iOS, so iPhone users get a trimmed-down experience.
Battery life is the other big flex with the Galaxy SmartTag 3. Samsung rates the tag for up to 550 days under standard use and up to 790 days in Power Saving Mode, based on internal lab tests using the CR2032 battery in the box. Power Saving Mode does turn off some features, including Compass View and keeps only the basic Bluetooth LE finding function.
Finding things is also easier from a distance. Compass View uses Bluetooth 6.0 Channel Sounding to give distance and direction from up to 60 meters away, about three times farther than before. As you get closer, ultra-wideband (UWB) takes over for more precise guidance.
Channel Sounding is limited to these few phones for now: the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold 8, Galaxy S26 Ultra and Galaxy S26 Plus. If your tag is out of range, the Galaxy Find Network, made up of more than 900 million participating Galaxy devices, helps track it down, and Samsung says location updates now show up faster.
The Galaxy SmartTag 3 also adds some proactive features. Place Notification, which Samsung labels a trial feature, lets you draw an area and get an alert when your tagged item enters or leaves it, like a pet leaving the garden or a bike moving out of its parking spot.
Location History keeps a record of where the tag has been for up to seven days and Movement Detection Alert pings you when the tag moves while disconnected. It also keeps the IP67 rating for dust and water resistance, NFC-powered Lost Mode, SmartThings IoT control through the tag button and Left Behind Alert, with location data encrypted to protect your privacy.

The Galaxy SmartTag 3 price in the US is set at $29.99 (approx. Rs 2,900) for a single tag and $99.99 (approx. Rs 9,500) for a four-pack, with US availability expected by early November. Samsung hasn't said anything about India yet.
The Galaxy SmartTag 3 goes on sale in South Korea on October 7, 2026, followed by the US, with more markets coming in 2027. It comes in White and Black.
