Starting with the aesthetics, the Galaxy Watch 9 retains its predecessor's familiar circular dial wrapped around a squircular chassis. There are two buttons on the right side alongside a microphone, Sensors at the bottom and the same dynamic lug mechanism. And while the stock band remains the same 20 mm in width, the band's styling sees a significant shift.
The smartwatch is built to withstand thanks to IP68 water and dust resistance, a 5ATM water resistance rating, along with MIL-STD-810H durability certification.

The Galaxy Watch 9 arrives in 40 mm and 44 mm variants with 1.34-inch and 1.47-inch 60 Hz AMOLED displays, and boasts up to 3,000 nits of peak brightness. Beyond the usual protection ratings, the displays sport Sapphire Crystal to protect against scratches.

Performance-wise, Samsung has ditched Exynos for the Snapdragon Wear Elite. For those unaware, it's a penta-core processor built on TSMC's 3nm process with one prime core clocked at 2.1 GHz and 4x performance cores clocked at 1.9 GHz. This is complemented by 32 GB of onboard storage and 2 GB of RAM.
Fueling the internals are 390mAh and 445mAh batteries that can charge wirelessly. While there are no new additions in terms of hardware sensors, Samsung has added a host of software features such as Vitals, Heart Health Score, Daily Cardio Load, Fitness Index, Running Coach and Hearing Health.

The Galaxy Watch 9 is the first to feature a Wear OS 7-based One UI 9 Watch operating system, with a promise of five years of OS updates. As for connectivity, the smartwatch features Bluetooth 6.0, NFC for contactless payments and LTE (in LTE variants).
