For the past few years, phone brands have been on a mission to effectively eliminate the smartphone bezel. While new-gen flagships like the OnePlus 15, Oppo Find X9 Pro and even the iPhone 17 Pro Max have reduced the display bezel to negligible numbers, it's not completely gone. That is what Tecno has seemingly achieved with the industry's first 0mm display bezel phone.
Tecno's Next-Gen Bezel-Less Concept Phone Showcased
According to details shared by Tecno, the brand has seemingly achieved the world's first bezel-less phone, with the display borders measuring 0mm. The brand says that this new kind of innovation required "rethinking the smartphone from the inside out."
As is evident from the image below, the bezel-less concept phone features an immersive edge-to-edge display without the annoyance of black display bars/borders. This is a significant step up in smartphone displays and it could very well become the reality of future flagship phones.
Currently, smartphone brands like OnePlus, Oppo, Vivo and even Apple offer 90% screen-to-body ratios. While Xiaomi and Honor have managed to push the number up to a 95% screen-to-body ratio, no brand has achieved 100%.
To further showcase the real display advancement, Tecno has also directly compared the bezel-less concept phone against the iPhone 17 Pro. It is safe to say that the difference in display bezel thickness is immediately apparent. Looks like Apple will need to speed things up with its rumoured bezel-less iPhone 20.
Tecno says that the bezel-free display hinges on three key engineering advancements: advanced internal stacking, new screen packaging techniques and structural re-engineering of the phone body.
Interestingly, even though Tecno claims that the display is "truly bezel-less", the evident selfie camera cutout keeps the panel from being truly distraction-free. Even though the 0mm bezel achievement only applies to the frame around the display, future iterations can also make way for a truly all-screen phone.
We have already seen smartphones implement under-display selfie cameras to bring a truly uninterrupted display experience. Phones like the RedMagic 11 Pro and RedMagic 11s Pro+ are some of the 2026 phones with this implementation.
Aside from that, Tecno has confirmed the bezel-less concept phone will make its public debut at IFA 2026 in Berlin on September 3. The brand intends to commercialise the bezel-free display concept and bring it to the market as a real smartphone.
This is not the first time Tecno has used IFA to debut a concept that later made it to market. The brand showcased the ultra-slim Tecno Spark Slim as a concept at IFA 2025, which subsequently launched as the Tecno Pova Slim 5G in India.
Also, as far as concept phones go, Tecno has been at the forefront of developments. From the Tecno Phantom Ultimate G Fold tri-fold to the much more recent Tecno Atom modular concept phone, the brand has been releasing new concept phones consistently.
