Vivo has announced that OriginOS 6, its next major Android 16-based update, will debut at its Developer Conference in China on October 10, 2025, at 10:00 AM CST (or 7:30 PM IST).
The OriginOS 6 release date confirmation came via Vivo's official Weibo account. Interested folks will be able to catch the live event via the OriginOS original system handle on Weibo.
The next OriginOS 6 update is said to bring some noteworthy upgrades over OriginOS 5. Vivo's OriginOS Product Manager, Ziang Huang, claims that the next OS upgrade will bring a new Comfort Engineering design and experience principle. This is said to give users "natural and intuitive ways to interact with their devices".

The new engineering system is said to blend fundamental science and principles like optics, physics, and mathematics with native Android mechanisms to create a "bridge between the human and digital worlds, creating a natural and comfortable operating system experience".

Huang has further added that the upcoming OriginOS 6 update will also bring new AI features like AI natural conversation, Xiao V Memory 2.0, AI behavioural experience and more. He adds that with the level of innovation OriginOS 6 is set to bring, it will finally allow the brand to deliver the "level of care and trust" the system is believed to deliver.
Additionally, the iQOO China Weibo handle has also confirmed that the upcoming iQOO 15 will be the first smartphone to ship with OriginOS 6 in the country. We also expect the Vivo X300 series to follow suit shortly afterwards.
That said, in India, expect OriginOS 6 to arrive as repackaged Funtouch OS 16 for eligible devices. Or, as leaks suggest, Vivo could ditch Funtouch OS entirely and bring OriginOS to India as well.
