Summary

  • Funtouch OS 16 is expected to be Vivo's next major Android update, and it will be based on Android 16.
  • Vivo's X Fold 5 and X200 Ultra will be among the first few devices to receive the Funtouch OS 16 update.
  • The update is expected to arrive by the end of 2025 and could gradually roll out to all the eligible devices.

With Google finally rolling out Android 16 to its Pixel lineup, and Samsung following soon with One UI 8 betas, it's almost time for other manufacturers to start pushing Android 16. Vivo and iQOO are a few of those popular manufacturers which have also started testing Android 16 internally and could release it very soon. Here are all the Funtouch OS 16 supported devices.

Funtouch OS 16 supported devices

Vivo and iQOO haven't confirmed which devices will receive the update. Still, considering the firm has a fairly clear update policy, we can determine which devices are eligible for the update based on their release dates.

Also, there are rumours floating around suggesting Funtouch OS will be replaced by Origin OS. Since Vivo is yet to confirm the same, we'll be sticking to calling it Funtouch OS 16. Some of the devices on this list run on Origin OS, but the idea that they'll receive Android 16 remains unchanged.

Now, the first set of devices that are expected to get Funtouch OS 16 are the ones that were released recently. These include the Vivo X Fold 5, X200 series and the rest. Here's a comprehensive list of all the supported devices.

It's too soon to say what features Funtouch OS 16 could bring, since Vivo has yet to officially announce the same. However, rumours suggest Funtouch OS could be replaced by Origin OS.

If the rumour turns out to be false, we can still expect all of Origin OS 6's features to make it to Funtouch OS 16. Besides, Android 16-specific features are also expected to make their way to Vivo's next update.

  • Widget Stacking, coming to Vivo's Origin OS, allows you to stack widgets on your home screen.
  • Separate Notifications and Quick Settings panels, just like OxygenOS.
  • More personalisation options on the home screen and wallpapers.
  • More lockscreen customisation options with widgets and AOD features.
  • Better app opening and closing animations, alongside new fingerprint animations.
  • Live activities feature on AOD, lock screen and on the notch.
  • The Game Countdown feature lets you switch to another app when searching for a match in the game and alerts you once the game starts.
  • Advanced Protection mode in Android 16 disables a few Android features that can be exploited by bad actors.
  • Search in Photo picker helps you search for photos from your photo library with ease.
  • Enhanced Predictive back gestures improve the gesture animations and make them available across more regions of Android.
  • Material 3 Expressive is expected to change the UI elements across apps, but Funtouch OS could retain the current look and feel.

Vivo is yet to unveil a timeline for when it will start seeding the update. However, we expect Funtouch OS 16 to roll out by the end of 2025 to most of the firm's latest devices like the X Fold 5, the X200 series and the iQOO 13, 12 smartphones.

Vivo's mid-range devices, on the other hand, might not see the update until Q1 or Q2 2026. This is because the firm usually takes time to push updates. Newer mid-range phones might get Funtouch OS 16 sooner, while older devices, getting their last update, may have to wait longer. Stay tuned, as we will be following Funtouch OS 16 closely.
