Vivo has officially confirmed that the Vivo X500 series will launch in China in September 2026. The brand's product manager, Han Boxiao, shared the news on Weibo, confirming that the lineup will consist of three models this time around: Vivo X500, Vivo X500 Pro and Vivo X500 Pro Max.
Vivo X500 Series Will Bring Cinema-Grade Video Recording
The Vivo X500, Vivo X500 Pro and the Vivo X500 Pro Max are positioned as professional videography phones, with the camera hardware built around them. While details about the standard X500 have not yet been revealed, Boxiao described the X500 Pro models as a generation aimed squarely at movie-level video recording.

The Vivo X500 Pro and the Vivo X500 Pro Max will feature what Vivo calls the world's first Zeiss Super Dynamic main camera, jointly developed by Vivo's BluePrint imaging team and Sony. The result is a new BluePrint Phantom 900 main sensor, featuring 50 MP resolution and a 1/1.28-inch sensor size.
This will help both phones unlock what the brand is calling 17EV of dynamic range, said to be the highest in the industry. Boxiao says that this level of dynamic range is usually associated with cinema-grade professional cameras. The X500 Pro and X500 Pro Max will become the first Vivo phones to feature this.

Furthermore, Boxiao says the Phantom 900 sensor delivers 17EV dynamic range in every video frame, maintaining details in both highlights and shadows. The new sensor also brings two video recording capabilities that are unusual for a smartphone.
For starters, the Vivo X500 Pro series will support 4K @ 240 FPS slow-motion video and 4K @ 120 FPS HDR video with direct HDR output. This will mean Vivo X500 Pro and X500 Pro Max will have real-time HDR processing instead of relying on a backchannel pipeline for background processing.
As far as video stabilisation goes, Boxiao says the X500 Pro series will be backed by a 3-degree OIS with gimbal-level stabilisation, featuring a CIPA 7.0 professional stabilisation rating.
Aside from that, Boxiao has confirmed that the Vivo X500 series is bringing improvements across 5 key areas - video, photography, display, performance and operating system. With the video details out, he has confirmed that more information about the X500 series will follow shortly.
Rest, tipster Digital Chat Station (DCS) has revealed that the X500 series carries the internal codename "Thanos 500" and the upcoming Pro models could inherit the 200 MP telephoto camera of the Vivo X300 Ultra, utilising a new Samsung HP0 sensor.
That said, while Vivo has confirmed the launch window for China, there is no information for markets like India. An earlier report indicated that the Vivo X500 series will arrive before Diwali 2026 in India. We will know for sure once the China launch event concludes. So, stay tuned.
