Earlier this year, WhatsApp introduced Guest Chats, which let users message people who aren’t on WhatsApp. Now, the Meta-owned platform is bringing the same idea to calls. WhatsApp has officially launched Guest Calls, which let anyone join a WhatsApp call without downloading the app or creating an account.
As per an official WhatsApp blog post, WhatsApp Guest Calls will let users with a WhatsApp account create a guest call link. To do this, users will need to open the Calls tab and tap the “+” icon to create a call link. They can then share the link with anyone, whether they use WhatsApp or not.

When a guest opens the link, it opens in their web browser. They just need to enter their name to get placed in a waiting room. The host then has to approve every guest before they can join the call. WhatsApp has made this approval step mandatory.
Moreover, guest calls are free, end-to-end encrypted and have no time limit. They work for both one-on-one and group calls, with up to 32 participants. This makes WhatsApp a handy alternative to Google Meet or Zoom links for quick calls with people outside your contacts.
Beyond that, WhatsApp Guest Calls also have some limits to protect users’ privacy. Guests will not be able to see other participants' phone numbers, send messages during the call and add other people to the call.
WhatsApp Guest Calls Availability
WhatsApp Guest Calls is now rolling out to both Android and iOS. However, the feature is reaching everyone gradually, so you might not see the option right away. WhatsApp hasn’t said when it will reach everyone. So, stay tuned.
