Last year, WhatsApp started testing Liquid Glass design for its iOS users. It shipped a redesigned layout to a select beta batch testerss via the Test Flight update and allowed users to share feedback on their experience. Now, after almost six months, WhatsApp for iOS is finally getting Liquid Glass redesing shipped more widely.

Liquid Glass Design Rolling out to WhatsApp for iOS Users

Reported by WABetaInfo, WhatsApp's Liquid Glass facelift is now rolling out via the new iOS 26.14.76 update to both beta and regular users. It brings the messaging app on par with the iOS 26 design language that Apple introduced last year. The update is also going live for WhatsApp Business users on iOS with the 26.14.76 version number.

As it is evident from the above image, users can experience the new design revamp by installing the latest WhatsApp update via the App Store. The major new change that's immediately noticeable is the refreshed tab bar. It can now turn transparent and translucent with 3D depth effect and bounce elements, which gives off the perception of light refraction when users interact with it. The tab bar visually adapts to the set theme - light and dark.

The next major refresh is in the interactive WhatsApp elements, such as buttons and context menus. They have now been updated to feature a soft, frosted glass style look, which is on par with Apple's Liquid Glass UX. Each button and context menu is responsive and adaptive, meaning that they respond to touch and feature fluid and responsive animations.

Lastly, a major area of change is in the WhatsApp keyboard layout. Just like the Apple keyboard, it also brings the new system interface with visual consistency. It mimics the Liquid Glass layout and offers a modern look in both light and dark modes.

That said, while WhatsApp's Liquid Glass update is now live for more iOS users, it is far from a stable and general rollout. WhatsApp is still developing it behind the scenes to bring Liquid Glass UI and UX consistency across every WhatsApp feature-set like call cards, login interface, texting revamp and more.
