Earlier this year, we got to know that WhatsApp is testing a new subscription plan to unlock new features for users. Now, we know that this plan could be called WhatsApp Plus and will be meant for users who want more customisation features within the messaging app. According to a report from WABetaInfo, the premium WhatsApp plan is currently in development for both Android and iOS.
WhatsApp Plus Features: What to Expect?
The WhatsApp Plan is said to focus primarily on personalisation. WhatsApp Plus subscribers could get access to several customisation options, including the ability to change the app theme, accent colours and app icons. The report suggests WhatsApp may offer 14 additional app icons, along with multiple colour options for the interface elements.

Additionally, another notable upgrade is an expanded pinned chats limit. Currently, WhatsApp allows users to pin up to three chats at the top of the conversation list. With WhatsApp Plus, that limit is said to increase to 20 pinned chats, making it easier for users to keep important conversations within reach.
The WhatsApp Plus subscription may also include exclusive ringtones, allowing users to personalise WhatsApp call alerts and distinctive sounds. In addition, WhatsApp could offer subscriber-only stickers and potentially more interactive message reactions to make conversations more expressive.

Importantly, the subscription will be entirely optional. Core WhatsApp features, including messaging, voice and video calls, media sharing, group chats and privacy tools will remain free for everyone.
WhatsApp has yet to announce the WhatsApp Plus pricing details or an official release timeline and the final feature set may still change before it rolls out. Who knows, important features like WhatsApp Group Message History could also be put behind this paywall.
