Meta is working on a new feature for WhatsApp that could help you iron out mistakes in text messages. It's called Writing Help, and it leverages Meta AI to help users rephrase or change the tone of their text without going through the effort of using other AI tools.
Spotted first by WABetaInfo, Writing Help is currently under development and there's no known fixed timeline about when it might roll out. The feature is a subset of Meta AI's Private Processing feature that's already rolling out. Right now, it lets Meta AI read messages and summarise them, but it could soon help users write better.

The above screenshots give a brief look on what to expect. Once the feature rolls out, users should see a dedicated tab with a pen icon and a star alongside emoji, GIFs, and stickers tabs. Meta AI could then automatically rephrase text, or users can choose to make it sound more professional, funny or supportive. It will also suggest different tones depending on the existing tone of the message.
Meta's Private Processing could use encrypted connections and keeps user requests untraceable based on their identities. With Writing Help, Meta AI may generate up to three suggestions per message. Private Processing is also expected to be an optional feature.
We don't have any information about when this could potentially show up on WhatsApp. However, features available in Beta versions usually tend to show up in the stable channel pretty soon. It's also worth noting that Private Processing has only yet been spotted on WhatsApp Beta on Android. iPhone availability still remains unknown.
