WhatsApp's desktop and smartphone clients keep getting new features, but this time it's the Web client's turn. Following recent beta updates that introduced Chat Themes on iOS, Android and Desktop clients, WhatsApp Web is next in line to receive custom chat themes, bringing more customisability and a visual overhaul.
Chat Themes Are Arriving Soon to WhatsApp Web
Reported by WABetaInfo, Meta is working on bringing custom chat themes to WhatsApp Web. The feature is currently under development and once it's available, users will be able to choose from a massive library of 49 visual presets.

According to the screenshots, these themes go far beyond just changing the background. Users will have the ability to change the colour of the message bubbles themselves and apply a wallpaper that matches the theme. Besides, the options include variations in colour and intensity for maximum customisability.
The latest report states that the feature will be quite flexible as WhatsApp will give users the option to set a default theme that applies to every crevice of the platform – from the main chats page to the Settings menu.
Additionally, the update is expected to add chat-level customisation. This means users can assign specific splashes of colours to specific contacts and conversations, overriding global settings. This should help users differentiate between chats easily. And unlike the theme implementation on Instagram, where changing the colour changes it for both users, WhatsApp Web's theming remains local.
WhatsApp recently rolled out usernames, followed by a much requested Native CarPlay app for iPhone users. Other features, like a built-in WhatsApp noise cancellation and a Dedicated Online Contacts hub, are expected to further improve the experience of using the platform in the coming days.
