WhatsApp is quietly working on a feature that could make catching up with unread messages far less overwhelming. The platform will soon let users summarise unread WhatsApp chats using Meta AI and it has now surfaced in the latest TestFlight beta on iOS.
WhatsApp To Soon Summarise Unread Chats Using Meta AI
As per the latest WABetaInfo report, WhatsApp will soon let users summarise multiple unread chats at once by making use of Meta AI's Private Processing. This new feature has been spotted on WhatsApp beta for iOS, with the 26.15.10.71 TestFlight version.
For those unaware, Private Processing is part of Meta's secure data processing architecture that ensures that Meta AI is able to perform different tasks and actions, all the while ensuring the privacy of the user. The generated data is neither visible to Meta nor is shared with third-party vendors.

As is evident in the above image, users will get a new "Get a Summary" button at the top with the Meta AI logo. It will be able to analyse and detect unread messages to create an AI summary of all the unread chats, making it easier for the user to get on top of them all at once.
Also, the same WhatsApp unread chat summaries for Android was spotted last year and it revealed that Meta AI will be able to summarise up to five unread chats. It will be similar to the Meta-AI powered message summaries functionality that is also coming to WhatsApp. However, unlike that, where users will need to visit each direct message individually to generate an individual chat summary, this will help users compile all of their unread chats into a single bite-sized message.
Moreover, since Private Processing uses a Trusted Execution Environment (TEE) in a secure, isolated cloud, the generated summaries will be invisible to Meta.
While the private summaries of unread WhatsApp chats feature was spotted on TestFlight, it's worth noting that it is currently in a limited testing phase. However, it will soon be available to beta testers on both Android and iOS.
