The flagship Xiaomi 16 lineup is expected to launch later this year and is said to bring a new member to the family this time – the Xiaomi 16 Pro Max. While details on this new model are scarce, it has appeared in the wild out of nowhere with an interesting design choice.
Tipster Mobile phone industry giant took to Weibo to reveal the live images of the upcoming Xiaomi 16 Pro Max. One of the images shows the test unit of the smartphone in the hands of a high-level Xiaomi manager. The other one gives us a closer look at the back design in a white colour variant.

As it is evident instantly, the Pro Max in the Xiaomi 16 series will feature a stretched top-aligned camera bar with a completely blacked-out silhouette. On the left, there is a dual camera setup stacked vertically. The right side, however, is where the new detail lies. It is said to house a secondary display.
While it is not evident immediately since the display is not turned on, it seems to be a small rectangular AMOLED screen with round edges. The take here seems very familiar to what we got with the Xiaomi 11 Ultra back in 2021.

The third, significantly smaller camera is located at the bottom of the camera island inside a pill-shape cutout. It also houses an LED Flash. Just beside that is the "Leica" imaging branding. The device appears to feature a white glass back.
While the leaker's post has not mentioned any other details of the smartphone, it does confirm the initial report from Digital Chat Station who revealed the fact that the Xiaomi 16 series will bring four phones to the mix.

At the time of writing, it is unclear how this rear mini display will function. If we are to guess, it will operate on a similar level as that of the Xiaomi 11 Ultra. Users will likely be able to use the second screen as a viewfinder, check notifications, calls, battery details and more.
However, we will know more when the official details will surface. As for the other specs, the device is said to bring a 6.9-inch display and is said to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 (also known as the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5) processor.
