Xiaomi’s Ultra series has always been all about photography and the Xiaomi 15 Ultra. Now, the upcoming Xiaomi 17 Ultra is said to up the game with all five cameras bearing 50 MP resolution.
Xiaomi 17 could flaunt 50 MP front and back cameras
XiaomiTime reports that Xiaomi 17 Ultra could feature four 50 MP cameras at the back, with a single 50 MP selfie shooter at the front.

Furthermore, Xiaomi is said to bring a new 50 MP OmniVision OVX10500U 1-inch sensor with the 17 Ultra. For context, the last smartphone to feature a sensor of this size was the 2024 Xiaomi 14 Ultra.
Other than that, the 50 MP ultra-wide and 50 MP telephoto lenses will likely use the Samsung JN5 sensor. Meanwhile, the 50 MP periscope lens will reportedly feature the Samsung HPE lens. At the front, the selfie shooter is said to be a 50 MP OmniVision OV50M sensor.
That said, we are not sure at the time of writing how good an upgrade this is when compared to the Xiaomi 15 Ultra. Obviously, the 50 MP selfie camera is a noticeable improvement over the 32 MP lens on the 15 Ultra. However, the 50 MP periscope telephoto is actually a step-down when compared to the 200 MP periscope lens on the 15 Ultra.

It is even more noticeable now, especially since the upcoming Vivo X300 Pro will feature a custom-made 200 MP periscope camera. So, while some brands are going for "ultrafication" of their Pro models, Xiaomi seems to have other plans for its next-gen Ultra smartphone.
Xiaomi also seems likely to continue its Leica partnership and the 17 Ultra may come with an upgraded version of the Vario Summilux 14-100mm lens that debuted on the 15 Ultra.
Apart from that, we expect the smartphone to be fully specced-out with a WQHD+ LTPO AMOLED display, the latest and greatest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, a 7,000+mAh battery, Hyper0S 3 based on Android 16, satellite connectivity and more.
That said, we will be sure to cover more details of the Xiaomi 17 Ultra as and when they appear. So, keep a close watch on Beebom Gadgets for all the updates.
