At the Snapdragon Summit 2025, Qualcomm finally launched the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, its flagship chipset featuring the 3rd-gen Oryon CPU and the Adreno 840 GPU. Qualcomm even went so far as to call it the “world’s fastest mobile CPU.” So to test the claim, we took a closer look at the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5’s benchmark results on Geekbench and AnTuTu. Let’s see how it stacks up.
Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 AnTuTu Score
AnTuTu V11 Benchmark | Score |
Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 AnTuTu Score | 4,266,120 |
CPU | 1,279,784 |
GPU | 1,450,598 |
Memory | 564,692 |
UX | 971,046 |
Running on the Qualcomm reference device (QRD), the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 has scored a whopping 4,266,120 points on the AnTuTu V11 benchmark, crossing the 4-million mark. The latest AnTuTu V11 benchmark has a different scoring methodology and generally scores higher than V10, but it's still a major milestone.
The 8-core Oryon v3 CPU has itself scored 1,279,784 points and the Adreno 840 GPU achieved an astounding 1,450,598 points. For comparison, the Snapdragon 8 Elite has scored 3,011,458 points on the latest AnTuTu V11 benchmark. Meanwhile, the MediaTek Dimensity 9500 has also crossed the 4-million mark on the AnTuTu V11 benchmark.
Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 Geekbench Score
Geekbench 6 CPU | Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 (Leaked) |
Single-core | 3,831 |
Multi-core | 11,525 |
The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 has appeared on Geekbench with a massive score, running on the Xiaomi 17 Pro series device. In the leaked Geekbench listing, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 achieved a remarkable 3,831 points in single-core and 11,515 in multi-core.
The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 is running two Oryon v3 prime cores at 4.60GHz and six Oryon v3 performance cores at 3.62GHz. The leaked scores suggest that the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 is around 26% faster in single-core performance, and around 24% faster multi-core performance, compared to last year's Snapdragon 8 Elite.
During the launch event, Qualcomm revealed that the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 delivers 20% faster single-core performance, and 17% improvement in multi-core performance.
It appears Qualcomm has finally matched Apple's A19 Pro in single-core performance with its Nuvia-designed, 3rd-gen Oryon CPU cores. The 8 Elite Gen 5 already outperformed the A19 Pro in multi-core workloads, thanks to its 8-core CPU setup.
Having said that, bear in mind that Qualcomm reached this level of performance at 4.60GHz while Apple achieved this at a lower 4.26GHz. It means that Apple's A19 Pro CPU is still more power-efficient than the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5.
