The Xiaomi 17 Ultra will launch by the end of December 2025 and early leaks suggest it won't just lead in camera performance this time. Fresh information from the rumour mill points to a massive battery upgrade paired with a slimmer design.
Xiaomi 17 Ultra will pack a near-7,000mAh battery
As per Weibo tipster Bald Panda, Xiaomi is apparently equipping the 17 Ultra with a huge 6,800mAh battery capacity. If true, this will bring a respectable 1,390mAh upgrade over the Xiaomi 15 Ultra.

Now, while the boost in battery capacity for the 17 Ultra is surely impressive, that's not the wow factor of Panda's post. The leaker has mentioned an 8mm thickness for the phone, which is, simply put, impressive. This is because the 15 Ultra with a 5,410mAh battery was 9.4mm thick.
This is a good example of how silicon-carbon tech has enabled smartphone brands to ship bigger batteries without compromising on smartphone ergonomics. Moreover, the wired charging speed is also said to get upgraded from 90W on the predecessor to 100W on the successor. It will also bring wireless charging support. However, the exact speed is not known at the time of writing.

Aside from that, the post mentions Green, Purple, White and Black colourways for the smartphone. As for what we officially know, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra will become the first co-created smartphone between Xiaomi and Leica.
It will feature the industry's first Leica APO-certified telephoto lens for better colour accuracy, reduced chromatic aberration and clarity and sharpness at different focal lengths. It will also bring back the 1-inch main sensor camera. Expect to see a 50 MP OmniVision OV50X 1-inch main camera, a 50 MP ultra-wide angle lens and an impressive 200 MP Leica APO periscope telephoto sensor.
That said, since the Xiaomi 17 Ultra China launch will officially happen this month, expect the phone to end the year 2025 with a bang. It will very well lead the next year in terms of smartphone photography till the next-gen Xiaomi Ultra phone launches.
