After months of speculations, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra is finally coming. The smartphone has been confirmed to launch next week. It is going to become the first phone born out of the renewed Leica and Xiaomi partnership.
Xiaomi 17 Ultra is officially coming to China soon
Xiaomi founder and CEO, Lei Jun, has officially confirmed that the Xiaomi 17 Ultra will go official next week in China. At the time of writing, there is no confirmation regarding the exact launch date. However, he has shared some interesting imaging details for the brand's next Ultra smartphone.

Xiaomi and Leica are renewing their global imaging partnership and the Xiaomi 17 Ultra will become the first co-created smartphone from these two brands. For context, up until the Xiaomi 15 Ultra, Leica was only involved in the joint camera tuning and development process. However, with 17 Ultra, Leica has also worked with Xiaomi to develop the core imaging hardware of the smartphone.
As a result, the upcoming phone will gain the industry's first Leica APO-certified telephoto lens. Lei Jun has confirmed that this new lens will improve the overall colour accuracy, reduce chromatic aberration and maintain clarity and sharpness at different focal lengths.

Also, it is now officially confirmed that the 17 Ultra will bring back the 1-inch main camera sensor, which the Xiaomi 15 Ultra missed out on. This is an important and welcome addition for superior low light performance. Lei Jun claims that the Xiaomi 17 Ultra will set a new night photography benchmark.
As for the camera specs, they are still under wraps. However, based on the recent Xiaomi 17 Ultra camera details leak, it seems like the phone will ditch the quad-camera layout in favour of a triple-camera setup. It is said to include a primary 50 MP OmniVision OV50X 1-inch sensor, a 50 MP ultra-wide angle lens and an impressive 200 MP Leica APO periscope telephoto sensor.

Aside from that, the smartphone is expected to draw its power from the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset. It will also reportedly return to a flat display with an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, a metal-and-glass build with an IP68/69 rating and a battery upgrade to 7,000mAh.
That said, since the official launch confirmation is out, expect to hear an exact date soon. We will keep you posted on the new Xiaomi 17 Ultra developments. So, keep a close watch at Beebom Gadgets.
