Xiaomi appears to be preparing to unveil its top of the line flagship smartphone, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra, later this month in China. The new model, which will join the Xiaomi 17 and Xiaomi 17 Pro released in September 2025, is reportedly focusing on better optics and powerful cameras.
Xiaomi 17 Ultra could arrive with a 200 MP Periscope lens
According to leaks from tipster Smart Pikachu on Weibo, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra could feature a refreshed, improved Leica lens coating. Besides, the leaker also spotted the smartphone on a regulatory website in China with the model number M2551B1.

This new optical treatment is designed to minimise glare and ghosting, resulting in better photos. It should also help capture images with better colour fidelity and rely less on software corrections, which could be a hit or miss sometimes.
Surprisingly, the phone may drop the quad-camera layout in favour of a triple-camera setup. This could include a primary 50 MP 1-inch sensor, likely the OmniVision OV50X, alongside a 200 MP periscope lens. There's also expected to be a 50 MP ultrawide snapper.

Besides, the phone is expected to be powered by the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset. It will also reportedly return to a flat display with an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, a metal-and-glass build with an IP68/69 rating and a battery upgrade to 7,000mAh.
The leak also suggests that the Xiaomi Mi Band 10 Pro will be launching alongside the Xiaomi 17 Ultra, and could boast network connectivity with faster speeds.
While the exact launch date is unknown, so are the other key specifications. However, considering the phone is set to launch by the end of this month, more information should be revealed as we inch closer. Stay tuned.
