Xiaomi is closing out its flagship phone lineup for the season with the new Xiaomi 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max. The two phones bring a familiar dual-screen design but pack meaningful upgrades under the hood, including Qualcomm's latest flagship chipset, 200 MP Leica cameras, and much larger batteries.
Most importantly, Xiaomi has also added a Smart Privacy Screen, giving the series a more practical upgrade alongside the usual performance and camera improvements.
Xiaomi 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max Specifications and Features
Starting with the design, the Xiaomi 18 Pro and Pro Max retain aesthetics from the predecessor. The back is relatively clean, with the same rectangular camera bump that also houses the rear display that wraps around the two main lenses. The front, too, looks quite identical to the Xiaomi 17 Pro.
The Xiaomi 18 Pro features a 6.4-inch 1.5K TCL M11 Super Pixel 2.0 Real RGB LTPO OLED display with a 120 Hz refresh rate, 2,160 Hz PWM Dimming, and up to 4,000 nits of peak brightness. The panel has a 2436 x 1120-pixel resolution and supports up to 2,100 nits HBM brightness. It also comes with Xiaomi Dragon Crystal Glass 3.0, BT.2020 support and 0.99mm bezels.
The Xiaomi 18 Pro Max, on the other hand, boasts a larger 6.9-inch 1.5K TCL M11 Super Pixel 2.0 Real RGB LTPO OLED display with a 2624 x 1208-pixel resolution. It retains the same 120 Hz refresh rate, 4,000 nits peak brightness, 2,100 nits HBM brightness, 2,160 Hz PWM dimming, Dragon Crystal Glass 3.0, BT.2020 support and 0.99mm bezels.
Both phones also get Xiaomi's Smart Privacy Display, which restricts viewing angles to keep sensitive information hidden from people around you.
The rear display remains one of the more distinctive elements of the Xiaomi 18 Pro series. The standard Pro gets a 2.7-inch TCL 120 Hz OLED rear display, while the Pro Max gets a slightly larger 2.9-inch TCL 120 Hz OLED panel. Both displays can reach 4,000 nits of peak brightness and support BT.2020.
Under the hood, the two phones finally see a notable difference. While the Xiaomi 18 Pro is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6, the Pro Max gets the more powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6. Both are paired with LPDDR5X RAM running at 9600 Mbps and UFS 4.1 storage.
Xiaomi has also equipped both phones with its Surge P4 and Surge G2 chipsets, alongside the Xiaomi T1 and T1+ chips. Cooling is another area where the Pro Max pulls ahead, with a 5,513 mm² VC cooling system, compared to the 4,355 mm² VC solution on the Xiaomi 18 Pro.
Optics-wise, both Pro and Pro Max get a triple-camera setup led by a 200 MP Light Hunter 960L primary sensor measuring 1/1.28-inch and featuring OIS. The sensor also supports LOFIC, 16.2EV and SCC90XS on the Pro Max, while the Pro is listed with SCC80XS.
The second camera is a 200 MP HP5 periscope telephoto sensor with 3.2x optical zoom, a 75mm focal length and a 12cm minimum focusing distance. Finally, the third camera is a 50 MP OV51D ultrawide with a 1/2.88-inch sensor and a 17mm focal length. The front camera is a 50 MP OV50M sensor measuring 1/2.88-inch. Both phones also feature Leica optics.
Battery size is where the phones differ. While the Xiaomi 18 Pro boasts a 7,000mAh cell, the Pro Max one ups it with an 8,500mAh battery. Both support 100W wired charging, 50W wireless charging and 27W reverse wired charging, as well as reverse wireless charging.
Connectivity-wise, both smartphones feature Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, NFC, UWB and a USB-C 3.2 Gen 1 port. Both phones also feature an IR blaster and a 3D ultrasonic fingerprint sensor. The Xiaomi 18 Pro carries an IP69/IP68/IP66 rating, while the Pro Max is listed with an IP69 rating.
Audio is handled by two stereo speakers on the Xiaomi 18 Pro, while the Pro Max gets three stereo speakers. The Pro also features a 7414 motor, whereas the Pro Max gets a 0916C motor.
On the software front, both phones run Android 17 with HyperOS 4 and feature Super Xiaomi AI 2.0 and Xiaomi MiMo AI LM.
