It has not even been a month since the Xiaomi Pad 8 series went official in China. Now, it looks like the brand is already hard at work, prepping the Pad 9 series for China and the global markets. The latest report has shed light on the lineup's models and the region of availability.
Xiaomi Pad 9 will launch in India as expected, but Pad 9 Pro may not
Tech publication XiaomiTime has unearthed new data in Xiaomi's internal database, which has revealed that the Xiaomi Pad 9 and the Pad 9 Pro are already in the works. Xiaomi is using the “Erhu” and "Guitar" codenames for the Pad 9 and the Pad 9 Pro, respectively.

Moreover, the database listing has also revealed where the respective Android tablets will be available worldwide. As expected, the Pad 9 lineup will first go official in China and will then move to regions like the EEA, Turkey, Indonesia, Taiwan, Russia and India.
However, the interesting bit is that except for India, all the other above-mentioned regions will get both the tablets. Xiaomi will skip the Pad 9 Pro for India. This is not unusual, since both the Pad 6 and the Pad 7 series brought only the standard variant to the country.
Even the newly launched Xiaomi Pad 8 series in China is also expected to bring the Pad 8 only to India. Hence, the fact that for the fourth consecutive time, Xiaomi is skipping the Pro model in the country is somewhat not surprising. However, fans who have been eagerly waiting to experience the top-of-the-line Xiaomi tablet will surely be disappointed.

As for specifications, expect the Pad 9 series to bring an 11.2-inch 3.2K 144Hz LCD display, over 9,000mAh batteries, HyperOS 3 update based on Android 16, smart accessories support and more.
That said, since nothing is confirmed as of yet, take these details with a pinch of salt. We will be sure to report on anything substantial as and when they appear. For now, we are waiting for the official Xiaomi Pad 8 launch confirmation for India.
