Xiaomi has officially taken the wraps off its new custom smartphone processor, the XRING O3. This next-generation processor promises considerable performance and efficiency gains over its predecessor, the XRING O1. Yes, there will not be an XRING O2.
Xiaomi XRING O3 Specifications and Features
The XRING O3 uses TSMC's 3nm process and has been completely redesigned. It packs 24 billion transistors across a 133 mm² die and ditches the traditional big-core cluster entirely in favour of a three-tier setup. As a result, the XRING O3 breaks through the 5 million-point mark on AnTuTu V11.
Like its predecessor, the XRING O3 comes with a Deca-core (6+4) setup with a maximum clock speed of 4.05 GHz. Backed by dual SME2 acceleration units, the processor aims to deliver a 60% boost in peak CPU performance and breaches the 15,000-point threshold in Geekbench 6.5 multi-core testing.
To handle gaming, the XRING O3 features ARM's latest and upgraded 16-core G2-Ultra NX GPU. Xiaomi claims it delivers an 85% jump in peak graphical performance and a 64% reduction in overall GPU consumption. There's also a 182% improvement in ray tracing capabilities. Besides, it also comes with hardware-level AI frame interpolation and super resolution.

The XRING O3 also becomes the first processor to support the next-generation LPDDR6 RAM, achieving a total transfer rate of 10,667 Mbps and a staggering 113.8 GB/s bandwidth. Xiaomi also claims that the processor's latency has been reduced to an industry-leading 82 ns, pointing to faster compute performance.
On-device intelligence is powered by a reconstructed 4-core NPU boasting 200 TOPS of tensor computation, specifically optimised for Xiaomi’s proprietary MiMo modes.

It also sports a 5th-generation ISP supporting up to 432 MP sensors, 4K 60fps AI night video processing, dedicated H.266 hardware video decoding, and an integrated RISC-V security enclave.
Besides details about the processor, Xiaomi has confirmed that the first set of devices to be powered by the XRING O3 will be the Xiaomi 18 Fold and Xiaomi Tab 9 Pro Max. It should be interesting to see how the O3 stacks up against Qualcomm's upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro and MediaTek's Dimensity 9600 Pro.
