If you recently bought a new OnePlus phone and tried to switch it off by long-pressing the power button, you probably ended up triggering Gemini instead of the power menu. Well, you are not alone in this. OnePlus changed the default power button behaviour with OxygenOS 12 and this change has confused a lot of users since then. So, in this article, we have listed all the methods to switch off OnePlus phones including a way to remap the power button. On that note, let's begin.
How to Switch Off OnePlus Phones Using Power and Volume Buttons
This is the fastest way to switch off OnePlus phones. You can use your device's physical buttons to turn off the OnePlus 15 or any modern OnePlus phone running OxygenOS 12 or later. Here are the steps to follow.
- Long-press the Power + Volume Up buttons at the same time.
- Hold for 1-2 seconds until the Power menu appears on screen.

- Now, drag the slider towards the Power off option.

Your OnePlus phone will shut down immediately.
Remap the Power Button to Show Power Menu on OnePlus Phones
In case you find the Power + Volume Up button combo annoying and want to access the power menu using just the Power button, there's a way to change it. Thereafter, long-pressing the Power button will bring up the power menu instead of triggering Gemini.
- Open the Settings app on your OnePlus phone and select Accessibility & convenience.
- Now, select Power button under "Other".

- Here, tap on Press and hold the Power button.
- Next, select Power menu instead of 'Digital assistant'.
- Now, the Power menu will be accessible when you long-press the Power button and you can use it to quickly turn off your OnePlus phone.

Use the Quick Settings Power Tile to Turn Off OnePlus Phones
If your phone's Power button isn't working, you can switch off your OnePlus phone using on-screen shortcuts. You can do that by adding the Power menu to the Quick Settings menu, and from there, you can turn off your OnePlus device.
- Swipe down twice from the top right to launch the Quick Settings panel on OxygenOS.
- Here, tap on the 3-dots icon at the top right and select Edit tiles.
- Drag the Power off tile from the "More tiles" section to the main Quick Settings page.
- Now, go back and you will see the Power off tile inside Quick Settings.

- You can now simply tap on this Power tile to open the power menu.
- Now, drag the slider to the Power off position, and your OnePlus phone will switch off right away.

How to Switch Off OnePlus Phones Using the Accessibility Menu
This is a great option if your power button is completely broken or if you need an on-screen shortcut to access the power menu. The accessibility menu has a floating button that you can use to easily switch off your OnePlus phone.
- Launch the Settings app on your OnePlus phone and select Accessibility & convenience.
- Here, tap on Accessibility.

- Now, tap on Accessibility Menu under "General" and turn on the Shortcut toggle.

- Here, tap on Allow and you will then see a floating icon on the screen.

- Now, tap on the floating icon and select Power to access the power menu.
- You can now drag the slider towards "Power off" to switch off your OnePlus phone.

So, that is how you can switch off your OnePlus phone. I recommend remapping the power key from Settings to quickly access the power menu. This way, you can turn off your OnePlus phone without any hassle. Switching off your phone can sometimes fix software glitches and issues like horizontal lines or white spot on the Android screen.
