Notes

We benchmarked the MediaTek Dimensity 7400 on the Motorola Edge 60 Fusion and the Dimensity 7300 on the Vivo T4x.

MediaTek's Dimensity 7000 series has been a gold standard for the mid-range smartphone category, offering chipsets that not only perform better but also give you a great battery life. The Dimensity 7400 and 7300 are great examples which are found in the Motorola Edge 60 Fusion and Vivo T4x smartphones. While both share the same DNA, there are significant differences in how they handle tasks. We benchmarked both to see which offers the better value.

Starting with the AnTuTu results, the primary differentiator between these chips is the graphical power. While there's a negligible difference in the CPU department (329,972 vs 326,034), the GPU inside the Dimensity 7400 is 50% faster at 147,724 points versus the Dimensity 7300's 97,731 points.

This suggests that while both phones will feel equally snappy in app opening, the Dimensity 7400 is significant;y better equipped for gaming. In fact, it sits between the Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 vs Snapdragon 6 Gen 4. However, it's considerably behind the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3.

The core setup of both the Dimensity 7400 and 7300 are similar, with the only difference being the clock speed. The 4x Cortex-A78 cores on the Dimensity 7400 run at 2.6 GHz, a difference of 100 MHz compared to the ones on the Dimensity 7300.

Besides, the difference in GPU performance is due to the higher clock speed on the Dimensity 7400. Otherwise, both processors boast the same Mali-G615 MC2 units.

In Geekbench 6, the Dimensity 7400 in Motorola Edge 60 Fusion leverages its slightly higher clock speed to secure a comfortable win. It crosses the 1,000 point threshold in single-core (1,092) performance while the Dimensity 7300 in the Vivo T4x 5G falls just short (992). Besides, the Dimensity 7400 also scores high in multi-core, breaking the 3,000 point barrier (3,062), which the Dimensity 7300 couldn't quite reach (2,781).

While the gap isn't massive, the final scores tell us that the Dimensity 7400 has slightly more headroom for heavy multitasking. The general performance, like app opening times and sifting through the UI, should remain fairly smooth and even on both.

Both the MediaTek chipsets demonstrate exceptional thermal management and are some of the best chipsets to attain these figures. The Dimensity 7300 is the most efficient, as it maintains a remarkable 95% peak performance in the 15-minute throttling test. The Dimensity 7400 is no slouch either, but the 7300 takes the lead in the scores (250,031 vs 326,195) with slightly better throttling performance.

While not quite the level of its sibling, the 7400 achieves a solid 90% of its performance, indicating that devices using either chip can deliver a stable experience, considering there's an effective cooling solution in place.

The 3DMark Wild Life Extreme test confirms the AuTuTu findings that the Dimensity 7400 is better equipped to handle games. With a best loop score of 1,014 points, the Dimensity 7400 delivers nearly 20% better graphics performance than the Dimensity 7300. It also delivers a better recorded performance in its lowest loop with 999 points.

However, the Dimensity 7300 offers better stability (99.5% vs 98.5%), but it's still well within the margin of error. The bottom line is, if you plan on playing games, the Dimensity 7400 is the clear choice, whereas the Dimensity 7300 will struggle with anything beyond basic settings.

MediaTek Dimensity 7400 vs Dimensity 7300: Speedometer 3.0

In the Speedometer 3.0 benchmark, the Dimensity 7400 scored 9.28, whereas the Dimensity 7300 scored 8.40. The scores are modest, indicating decent, but not flagship-level browsing speeds. Expect slightly faster page load speeds on the Dimensity 7400, but the difference in daily usage will be minimal. The pages won't load as fast as, say, the Exynos 2500, which scores a whopping 21.5 points.
