Qualcomm announced the Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 in May 2026 along with the Snapdragon 6 Gen 5. The company promises a 77% faster GPU, 90FPS gaming and affordable 5G connectivity in the entry-level segment. The chipset has already appeared on Geekbench running on the Oppo A7 Pro Max. So based on the leaked scores and official specs, let's see how the Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 stacks up in various benchmarks.
Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 AnTuTu Score (Expected)
While the AnTuTu score of the Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 has not leaked yet, we can measure its performance based on the chipset's architecture. In our Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 benchmark, we predicted between 430,000 and 460,000 points and the Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 packs the same CPU setup with only a 100MHz bump on the performance cores.
The real jump is on the graphics side, where Qualcomm claims a 77% faster Adreno GPU. Considering that, we expect the total AnTuTu score to be around 480,000 and 520,000 points. We will update this section with our own benchmark results once we get our hands on a Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 phone.
To put things in perspective, the Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 crossed the 1-million mark with 1,010,104 points in our Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 benchmarks, which was a first for a 6-series chip.

The Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 was spotted on a Geekbench listing running on the Oppo A7 Pro Max (model number PYC110) with 12GB of RAM and Android 16. The Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 achieved 976 points in single-core and 2,250 points in multi-core.
Compared to the Snapdragon 4 Gen 4's performance (930 and 2,210 points), the new chip is only about 5% faster in single-core and 2% faster in multi-core. You are basically getting the same CPU performance.
The Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 features the same 2x Cortex-A78 and 6x Cortex-A55 core setup from its predecessor. The performance cores are clocked just 100MHz higher at 2.4GHz.
Qualcomm has done the same in its budget portfolio, as we saw in our Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 vs Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 comparison, where the GPU did all the heavy lifting while the CPU performance remained the same.

Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 Expected Gaming Performance
This is where the Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 would shine. Qualcomm claims the new Adreno 629 GPU is a whopping 77% faster than the Adreno GPU on the Snapdragon 4 Gen 4. The chipset supports 90FPS gameplay for the first time in the Snapdragon 4 series.
Popular gaming titles are expected to run at 90FPS on Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 phones, which was unheard of in this tier until now.
Qualcomm is also bringing its Snapdragon Smooth Motion UI technology to the 4 series. It brings 43% faster app launches and 25% less screen stutter compared to the last generation along with 10% power savings.
We will reserve our judgement on thermals and sustained performance until we run the CPU Throttling Test and 3DMark stress tests ourselves.

Surprisingly, the Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 has dropped LPDDR5 support and now works with LPDDR4X memory only, which is a downgrade from the Snapdragon 4 Gen 4. Next, you still get Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5.1, while the 6 series has moved on to Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6. There is no hardware AV1 decoding either as the GPU only handles H.265 and VP9 decoding.
That said, Release 17 5G modem with Dual SIM Dual Active (DSDA) support is a first for the 4-series and the modem now peaks at 2.8Gbps download speeds, up from 2.5Gbps.

Initial Impressions
Overall, the Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 looks like a GPU upgrade with 77% performance uplift and 90FPS gaming support. That said, the leaked Geekbench scores make it clear that CPU performance has barely improved from the Snapdragon 4 Gen 4.
In real-world usage though, budget phones should feel smooth and that matters more in this price bracket than benchmark scores.
All in all, if buyers can stretch their budget, go for chips like the Snapdragon 6 Gen 4. It's much powerful than the 4-series chips as our Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 benchmarks show.
