Let's start with the AnTuTu V10 benchmark first. In the AnTuTu benchmark, the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 scored 783,345 points while the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 delivered 1,077,092 points, offering 37% faster performance. Similarly, in CPU performance, the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 delivered 18% stronger performance and in the GPU department, the gap widened to 62%. It's clear that the newer Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chipset is substantially more powerful than the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3.
Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 vs Snapdragon 7 Gen 4: Geekbench Score
Geekbench 6 CPU | Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 | Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 |
Single-core | 1,164 | 1,208 |
Multi-core | 3,252 | 3,464 |
Now, in the Geekbench 6 CPU test, the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 managed to score 1,164 in single-core and 3,252 in multi-core. The Snapdragon 7 Gen 4, on the other hand, did slightly better, scoring 1,208 in single-core and 3,464 in multi-core. Since both chipsets have the exact same CPU cluster, the CPU performance is also along the same lines.
However, the maximum clock speed is slightly on the higher side on the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 (2.8GHz vs 2.5GHz), which results in marginally better performance. Overall, I would say, as far as the CPU performance is concerned, both processors deliver roughly similar performance.
Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 vs Snapdragon 7 Gen 4: CPU Throttling Test
CPU Throttling Test | Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 | Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 |
Maximum Score | 312,851 GIPS | 388,446 GIPS |
Average Score | 306,593 GIPS | 369,023 GIPS |
Minimum Score | 288,448 GIPS | 341,055 GIPS |
Throttling Percentage (Higher is better) | No CPU Thermal Throttling Detected | 93% |
In the 15-minute CPU Throttling Test, the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 didn't throttle at all on our Nothing Phone (3a) Pro, which is quite remarkable. Whereas, the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 on the Realme P4 Pro, throttled to 93% of its maximum performance. While 93% is not bad, the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 demonstrated absolutely no thermal throttling even under extreme load on all CPU cores. It shows that Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 offers superior efficiency and stability.
Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 vs Snapdragon 7 Gen 4: 3DMark Score
3DMark Wild Life Extreme Stress Test | Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 | Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 |
Best Loop Score | 1,049 | 1,807 |
Lowest Loop Score | 1,046 | 1,793 |
Stability | 99.7% | 99.2% |
To judge the graphics performance, we ran the demanding 3DMark Wild Life Extreme Stress test. The Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 got the best loop score of 1,049 points and the lowest loop score of 1,046 points with 99.7% stability. Meanwhile, the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 achieved the best score of 1,807 and the lowest score of 1,793 with 99.2% stability.
While the stability is almost the same, the Adreno 722 GPU on the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 performed much better. It's almost 72% faster in graphics performance which is quite huge. All in all, the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 offers stronger graphics performance than the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3.
Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 vs Snapdragon 7 Gen 4: Speedometer 3.0 Score
Now, we come to our final Speedometer 3.0 test which evaluates CPU performance on web frameworks and applications. In this test, the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 scored 8.88 while the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 achieved 11.8 points. To put it simply, while browsing the web, you will get a more responsive and smoother performance on the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4.
