AirPods Max 2 Launched in India with H2 Chip, Lossless Audio Support and Better ANC

After five long years, Apple has finally refreshed its premium over-ear AirPods Max. The AirPods Max 2 has launched in India and globally now, bringing a bunch of upgrades with the new H2 chipset. The refreshed headphones promise smarter audio processing, improved noise cancellation and several intelligent features to make the listening experience more immersive.

The biggest highlight of the AirPods Max 2 is the new H2 chipset, which was introduced with the AirPods Pro 2 and also powers the newest AirPods Pro 3. The chipset powers improved computational audio and several intelligent features across the headphones.

Thanks to the new chipset and upgraded algorithms, Apple says the headphones deliver up to 1.5x more effective Active Noise Cancellation than the previous generation.

Apple has also improved the Transparency Mode, allowing outside sounds to feel more natural when users need to stay aware of their surroundings. The H2 chip also enables features like Adaptive Audio, Conversation Awareness and Voice Isolation, which dynamically adjust sound levels, reduce background noise during calls and automatically lower volume when someone nearby starts speaking. 

The AirPods Max 2 are designed to deliver a more immersive audio experience as well. They support Personalised Spatial Audio with dynamic head tracking, along with a new high dynamic range amplifier that improves clarity, bass response and overall sound detail. For users who want the highest-quality playback, the headphones now support 24-bit, 48 kHz lossless audio when connected via USB-C.

Apple has also introduced several smart capabilities, including Live Translation, which can translate speech in real time through the headphones when paired with compatible Apple devices. Other additions include camera remote functionality and improved microphone performance for clearer calls and recordings. 

In terms of design, the AirPods Max 2 largely retain the signature over-ear look of the original model. As for battery, they offer up to 20 hours of listening time with ANC enabled.

The AirPods Max 2 India pricing is set at Rs 67,900, making them the brand's most premium audio product to date. In fact, the headphones cost about as much as the recently launched MacBook Neo.

As for availability, the AirPods Max 2 pre-orders will start from March 25, 2026, via the official Apple India website and partner retail channels. The headphones can be purchased in the Blue, Purple, Midnight, Starlight and Orange colour options.
