Fresh off the Apple HomeView launch, new information suggests that the Cupertino giant is working on a HomeView "Pro". The device is meant to solve one of the drawbacks of the latest hub – manual adjustment –as it is tipped to arrive with a 360-degree robotic arm.

The information was revealed by Bloomberg's Mark Gurman in his latest Power On newsletter. He says that the Cupertino giant is developing a "souped-up" version of the HomeView and it bears the codename J595.

This hardware could physically track users via built-in cameras and sensors. To overcome the base model's stationary limitations, the HomeView Pro could replace the standard tilt hinge with a fully motorised robotic arm. This mechanism will allow the display to swivel a complete 360 degrees. This is similar to how the Honor Robot Phone functions.

By utilising spatial voice recognition, the machine could pinpoint exactly who in the room is speaking and automatically pivot the screen toward them. It's pretty similar to a next-generation version of Apple's Centre Stage camera framing.

The HomeView Pro may also one-up the standard version with a larger 9-inch display. However, it isn't slated to replace the current HomeView; it will sit at the top of the lineup with a significantly higher price tag.

Gurman adds that Apple is targeting a 2027 or 2028 release, which is a pretty wide timeline. More information about the HomeView Pro and its specifications should start surfacing as we transition into 2027.

That said, this makes Apple the second company to be working on a robotic home device. There have been reports of OpenAI working on a humanlike smart speaker with moving parts, which was expected to be unveiled in 2026. However, leaks and rumours about the same have been rather dry lately.

With brands working on making smart home devices even smarter, we may see a wave of similar devices from Android manufacturers and potentially Google itself. However, privacy has been a highly debated topic around them, so it will be interesting to see what the brands do to counter it.
