Just hours after launching the iPhone 17 series at its Awe-Dropping event, Apple has quietly pulled the plug on the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus. At the time of writing, the phones have been removed from the Apple online store.
It's not unusual, since this follows Apple's long-standing tradition of phasing out older models as newer ones arrive. Launched in September 2023, the iPhone 15 series marked a significant milestone for Apple with its switch to a USB-C port, finally.
Besides, it also saw the introduction of a 48 MP primary rear camera with 2x telephoto capability. Moreover, this was also the year when Dynamic Island was rolled out to Apple's non-Pro iPhone models for the first time.

With today's lineup reshuffle, the iPhone 16e, iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus now take over as Apple's lower-priced options, starting at Rs 59,900, Rs 69,900 and Rs 79,900, respectively.
Interested buyers can still get the iPhone 15 on Flipkart. Besides, given that the Flipkart Big Billion Days 2025 Sale is incoming, the iPhone 15 can potentially be grabbed at an attractive price point. Besides, the good thing is that Apple will continue providing iOS updates and security patches for the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus for several more years. So, buyers will get that ongoing support despite its removal from the store.
The discontinuation is just Apple's strategy of keeping its lineup fresh and nudging customers to grab newer devices instead. With the spotlight now on the iPhone 17 lineup, the iPhone 15 officially bows out just two years after its debut.
