At the "Awe Dropping" event today, Apple made the new iPhone 17 models and the iPhone Air official. Now, to give the new iPhones all the spotlight, Apple has quietly pulled the plug on some of its older iPhone models.
The iPhone 16 Pro and the iPhone 16 Pro Max have now been delisted from the Apple Store. These smartphones will no longer be sold officially via Apple. However, interested buyers can still visit e-commerce platforms like Flipkart and Amazon to purchase the smartphones. Even offline retail outlets will also sell the iPhone 16 Pro models till their stocks last.
This move is not surprising since Apple is known to phase out the older generation of iPhones when a new generation drops. This time, it is the iPhone 17 Pro and the iPhone 17 Pro Max. Both devices are now Apple's most "Pro" iPhone offering, with a new aluminium uni-body design, brighter Super Retina XDR LTPO OLED 120 Hz ProMotion display, the A19 Pro chipset, vapour chamber cooling, a 48 MP telephoto camera and more.

Now, it is important to note that while Apple is not going to sell the two devices officially, it will still maintain them with iOS updates, security patches and customer care support for years to come. As for the iPhone 16 series models that Apple is still selling, the iPhone 16e and the iPhone 16 are the only two options available at Rs 59,900 and Rs 69,900, respectively.
That said, the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max and the all-new iPhone Air are currently available to pre-order on the Apple India website. Interested buyers can visit the platform to upgrade to the latest models.
