Apple’s first foldable iPhone Duo pre-orders are already underway in India, but there’s a catch for those planning to buy multiple iPhones. Apple has capped purchases at two units per customer on its online store, covering its entire iPhone lineup ahead of tomorrow’s iPhone Duo sale.
iPhone Purchases Capped in India for All Models
According to a report by NDTV Profit, the limit counts the total number of Apple iPhones in your cart, not just one model. This means you can buy only two units of the same iPhone, or mix and match two different models.
For instance, you can buy either two iPhone Duo units or one iPhone Duo and one iPhone 18 Pro. If you try to add a third iPhone, the Apple Store shows a warning that reads: “A maximum of 2 iPhones can be purchased per customer.”
The cap applies to the entire current iPhone lineup in India. So far, the limit has only been spotted on Apple’s online store. It’s not yet clear whether Apple’s retail stores in India, like Apple BKC and Apple Saket, or authorised resellers will follow the same rule.
Apple hasn’t officially explained why it has introduced the cap. However, it comes amid reports of limited iPhone Duo stock in India and the worsening RAM crisis. Apple is reportedly expecting only around 6,000 units of the iPhone Duo in India in the first week.
On top of that, grey-market sellers are reportedly charging up to Rs 50,000 more than the iPhone Duo’s official price of Rs 2,99,900. Brands often limit purchases during shortages to stop resellers from buying in bulk, and that could be the reason here too.
That said, the limit shouldn’t affect most buyers. However, if you plan to buy several iPhones at once for festive gifting, you’ll have to stick to two per order on Apple’s website. Meanwhile, the iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max are also available to buy in India right now.
