A few days ago, leaked images of the Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra suggested Samsung could be preparing for its biggest flagship redesign in years. Now, it seems they are more than likely to happen, as new CAD renders of the smartphone give us our best look yet at the redesigned Galaxy S27 Ultra.
Galaxy S27 Ultra Could Feature an iPhone 17 Pro-like Camera Plateau
Reliable tipster OnLeaks, in partnership with Android Headlines, has shared multiple CAD renders of what they claim to be the Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra. The leaked renders show Samsung abandoning the familiar vertical camera layout for a horizontal camera plateau, similar to what we have seen on the iPhone 17 Pro.
Moreover, with the redesigned camera module, Samsung also appears to have tinkered with the camera cutout design. From the above image, we can see two large circular cutouts at the top-left corner and a pill-shaped cutout parallel to them. The LED flash is also part of the pill-shaped module.
The publication notes that the entire setup also results in a substantial camera bump. The phone, along with the camera island, supposedly measures 12.53 mm in thickness, with the camera bump alone measuring 4.5 mm.
An important thing to note is that the leaked CAD renders of the Galaxy S27 Ultra show three rear cameras instead of the usual four found on the Galaxy S26 Ultra. This confirms earlier speculations that the South Korean brand is getting rid of the 10 MP 3x telephoto camera, which fans have wanted gone for the longest time.
Aside from that, the publication notes that the rest of the Galaxy S27 Ultra design will be similar to that of its predecessor. The rough dimensions of the phone are said to be 163.76 x 78.25 x 7.97 mm, making it slightly larger than the Galaxy S26 Ultra.
The phone could retain the same 6.9-inch display size with a centre punch-hole selfie camera cutout and extremely thin and even display bezels. Galaxy S27 Ultra is also expected to retain S Pen support.

While the renders reveal that Samsung is ditching the 10 MP 3x telephoto camera, they don't reveal why. Leaks have suggested that the upcoming Galaxy flagship is getting a new 50 MP 5x periscope camera, which is supposed to be a replacement for the current 10 MP and 12 MP telephoto sensors.
The rest of the camera setup could also see improvement as a new 200 MP ISOCELL HP6 main camera is reportedly in the works with a 1/1.3-inch sensor size and a new 50 MP Sony IMX-885 ultra-wide angle lens to go with it.
Under the hood, the Galaxy S27 Ultra is expected to use Qualcomm's next flagship chip, currently rumoured to carry the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Extreme branding. On the battery front, Samsung is expected to ship a 5,700mAh battery with the Galaxy S27 Ultra.
Other than that, the Galaxy S27 Ultra will also become one of the first phones to run One UI 9.5 out of the box. That said, the next-gen Galaxy S27 lineup is expected to debut by February 2027. Hence, we still have months left for new information to emerge. So, stay tuned.
